Movers & Shakers: Jaylaan Ahmad Llewellyn of bluhammock music & bluhorse clothing

Jaylaan Llewellyn with her artist, Cary Brothers

The 29-year-old music executive and riding enthusiast Jaylaan AhmadLlewellyn, is bringing some new flavor to the table.
Jaylaan Llewellyn is the founder and CEO of bluhammock music and bluhorse clothing.

Bluhammock music is an indie record label based in New York City and is distributed by Sony’s RED distribution arm via MRI. Llewellyn has a roster of 8 artists on her label so far including: Virginia Coalition, Cary Brothers, Swati and Speech (yes, from Arrested Development), to name a few. All of her acts have their own unique flavor and have been featured on hit tv shows like The Hills and Greys Anatomy. This year there are plans to feature bluhammock music production in indie films.

Sister company, bluhorse clothing, was launched last summer and is a collection for hip, equestrian lifestyle-oriented individuals and represents relaxed luxury with an outdoor sensibility, and sporty, hip vibe. Her clothing line is gaining popularity on the equestrian set, here in the south and her products have sponsor at a few events. Now, I think it makes perfect sense that Jaylaan went into the equestrian clothing business. Those in the know, know that she's an avid riding enthusiast who participates in a lot of equestrian events, particularly here in South Florida, in Wellington and Palm Beach. Might I add, she's one of the few sistas competing in these events and she does quite well.

The Harvard University graduate is the daughter of Shahara and J. Bruce Llewellyn, currently chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

P.S.
If you're in Florida this Sunday, February 17th, Jaylaan's throwing the blu Party, benefitting the US Equestrian Team Foundation and the John T. Petters Foundation in Wellington, FL

Kerry Washington in February's Allure

Actress Kerry Washington is featured in Allure Magazine's Fashion Stakeout for February. Kerry's always on the scene and always looks smokin. In the article it mentions that the natural beauty told her make-up artist, Tyron Machhausen that she doesn't want to look made-up, but I think there's room for improvement on lip-color. None the less, she's got great style. I'm loving the blush Armani Prive dress with the mermaid silhouette.

African -American Designs for Hermès

Kermit Oliver's Marquis De Lafayette scarf for Hermès.

Respected artist Kermit Oliver was painting by day and sorting mail at night. Now that he has designed the Marquis De Lafayette scarf for high-end brand Hermès, he may be able to tell the post office buh-bye!
The scarf is bursting with bold colors, images of De Lafayette with historical and symbolic figures. Lafayette is famous for being a French military officer who renounced his title and joined the American Revolution. The beautiful silk scarf has grabbed the attention of Vogue magazine and is even displayed at the New York Historical Society's "French Founding Fathers" exhibit.

Oliver who's been an artist for over 40 years, is from Texas and the child of working cowboy parents. Inspired by his rural Texas upbringing and mythology, religion and history studies, his art reflects a blend of nature, mythology, classical and contemporary. He has had numerous successful art exhibitions in Texas, many of his exhibits at Hooks-Epstein Galleries . Oliver studied art at Texas Southern University and graduated with a BFA and teaching degrees.

I must admit, ever since Oprah had her discrimination debacle with Hermès I haven't bought a thing from them. But now that they have commissioned an African -American who also happens to be the first American to design their scarves, which is a big step for them... I guess I can call a truce!

2 Fashionable Brothers= Bogosse

Fabrice and Patrick Tardieu
(Photo:Gary James,Source:Ocean Drive)

Not only are these two Haitian brothers handsome, they're intelligent, have great style and are in business together. Brothers, Fabrice and Patrick Tardieu have a high fashion men's line called Bogosse. . "The name comes from the french term beau gosse, meaning 'handsome guy' explains Patrick , Bogosse CEO and former captain of the Haitian national soccer team. "It's a phrase used to describe the best-looking guy in the room, the kind that ladies find irresistible."
(Photos:SoBogosse)

Bogosse was such an appropriate name, being that it's a menswear company that makes high quality tailored shirts in beautiful eye-catching colors and prints that aren't gaudy. I love the vintage 50's/ Miami Vice/ European vibe these shirts have, with the contrast stitching, satin trim detailing and caribbean palette.

Bogosse has an impressive list of supporters like: Jamie Fox, Samuel L. Jackson, Tony Parker, Ryan Seacrest and Usher.
TV personality, Ryan Seacrest wearing Bogosse.

The naturally dapper brothers' travels and experiences clearly inspired their journey into fashion. Patrick and Fabrice, were raised comfortably in the Delmas 83 community in Haiti, by hard-working parents who operated a successful import/export business.

At the age of 16, older brother Patrick, a youth soccer prodigy, moved to Brussels to play professionally and study business at Belgium's European University College. Shortly after he graduated, he had a brief stint playing soccer for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers before starting successful freight shipping company Tarimex.

Fabrice who's Bogosse's creative director, moved to Miami at age 13, eventually heading to the European University de Paris.
Fabrice was working in Paris as the head sales rep and distribution supervisor for Emporio Armani to retailers in France and the French Caribbean when Patrick decided it was time to try his passion for fashion. Patrick approached younger brother Fabrice, who was totally supportive and the rest is history!

Ladies keep an eye out for their women's collection!!

Visit www.bogosse.com to find their international locations.

Beyonce Strips Down to Jeans in New Ad

The hardest working woman in showbiz teases her fans with a new sexy ad. At first glance, it appears Beyoncé is topless in her new jeans advertisement for "House of Deréon", but it's just trickery. As usual, Beyoncé keeps it sexy but classy, marketing the sensual potential of her clothing line. "House of Deréon" is a prêt-à-porter fashion line introduced by singer Beyoncé Knowles and her mother/stylist Tina Knowles in 2004. The style and concept is inspired by three generations of women in their family, with the name "Deréon" paying tribute to Beyoncé's grandmother, Agnèz Deréon.
